Help with casting numbers
I just pulled my 5.7 out of my 89 GTA and after starting to take it apart I am a bit upset. I have a new crank. I bought this car about six months ago and have been working on it ever since. When I got it I knew what was ahead for the most part. I have the new interior in and know it is engine and trans time. Anyway my crank has a casting number 14088528 it also has numbers stamped M010 and R020 (my fear is mains .020 under and rods .020 under) is this so ? My blocks casting number is 14093638
Last I finally got my heads 10088113 and was told they are 89 corvette . Is this true? thanks guys:hail:

Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed

According to http://www.mortec.com :
block # 14093638...350...87-95...2 or 4...Roller or flat tappet cam
one-piece rear seal:
crank # 14088526...305,350...cast....medium journal...3.48" stroke (no listing for 14088528)
head # 10088113...88-up...350..........Aluminum, 58cc, angle plug, raised "D" port exhaust, 1.94"/1.5" valves; doesn't specifically state whether or not they are Corvette heads.

Oh, yeah... the M010 and R020 means that the main journals were ground .010" under and the rod journals were ground .020" undersize at some point in time
