noise from firewall
noise from firewall
i drive an 89RS... when it's cold out, mostly, there is a weird sqeaking type sound coming from the firewall on the passenger side (i think)... i've been told it could be that a belt is loose or my heater fan is going out but i don't think it's either... maybe i'm wrong but does someone have an idea as to what could be the sound?

It depend on weather it's cold then you use your heater, or it's cold and the metal is contracting causing parts to squeek.
I think all my cars make different sounds when it's cold if that helps. I call it personality

Maybe not your problem, but...
Mine developed a pop or creak several months ago. It had been getting worse and was driving my crazy! It was related to chassis flex - like two parts were rubbing just a tiny bit.
I finally found it. The little brace from the cowl to the RH fender (actually the hood hinge base) had worked slightly loose. It was popping as the chassis flexed. The bolt was stripped, so I couldn't tighten it more. So, I just used through bolts at both ends - problem solved.
