Car "Loading Up" fuel

A mechanic has mentioned to me that with the current setup I have on my car it is difficult to adjust air/fuel ratios becuase the car will always tend to loadup on fuel when you are sitting idle. Once the car is moving and you have your foot into it, the motor will tend to run substantially better. Is there any sense to this comment or is this nonsense.

The reason it is with a mechanic at this point in time is because it failed emmisions test in Indiana. Hydrocarbons I believe were to high?

Fast,

Call Ed and ask him to get it "Wright" this time. An EFI system should be able to trim fuel perfectly at idle, regardless of modifications, and especially in closed loop with an active O² sensor. Your mechanic is probably confused by the modifications to your engine and doesn't fully understand the possibilities for the ECM and custom programming.

That cam doesn't have enough overlap to cause the problems, and the MAF system on your engine should make trimming the fuel a no-brainer. Either you're running too much fuel pressure or the PROM doesn't match the injector flow worth a crap. In either case, between the MAF and a good oxygen sensor, the system WILL control the mixture at idle WITHOUT running rich (loading).

Is this mechanic ASE certified in fuel systems?
