Temp control door does not move freely

what would cause this door to sieze up, and can it be repaired with out too much difficulty?
I can move the lever by hand both ways, although it is very stiff, and it will move when the cable pulls on it, but will not move when the cable pushes on it

John,

How does the cable react when it is disconnected from the air door? Remove the spring disc/clip and cable, then try the temperature control lever again. The cable itself may be binding. If the cable is O.K., try moving the door by hand. There may be a rubber flap on the end of the air door that is dragging in one direction. You might be taking it out of there for inspection if you can't solve it from there.

I have the same problem my door is stuck open. But I am missing the cable to open it and close it. Where exactly is the door located in a Camaro 1986? From the pic above I can't make out where to look for it.

I have a had a look for it once before and could not find anything.

To Vader,
Thanks for the reply, the cable moves freely enough, I think the problem is the door itself is gummed up with crap the car sat for about 2 years before I bought it. I tried some spray lube on the hinge points and it seemed to help a little, I'll have to keep playing with it.

To 86 Irocz28.
I drew some arrows on the pic The two red arrows are where the door is.
The white arrow points to the lever, and the yellow arrow points to the cable, the other end of the cable connects to the lower slide lever on your ac control
In the pic, the door is in the "cold" position so you cant see it.
