I have the original plug wires on my 83 T/A. It has about 81,000 miles on it now and the wires are date coded 11-1982. Would changing them wake it up any? Just curious.

 

very possible, i'd recomend wetting them down, grabbing a hold of them, and having someone put the engine under load. if your "shocked" at your results, i'd say replace them.

 

Wha? LoL, "Shocked"? Try collapsing to the ground, spasming... or worse!

 

Well, i cant say thats not amusing. But it was a serious question. Do think I can hold off on them for a little while longer, or will it wake it up a little bit if I did them now? THX

 

Go for it! MSD 8.5's. If ya wanna just check, run your engine at night, look for blue sparks, that what I did, mine sparks, can't wait to get new wires, I'm guaranteed better performance.

 

I say definitely change them. Plug leads are always over-looked and should be replaced every 20,000 or so. I just did mine and it made a difference to throttle response and the hesitation. If in doubt- do it!

Oh, I used Moroso Blue Max 8mm spiral wound race leads- very good!
