How does the distributer effect oil flow?

The place on the housing near the bottom where it has what looks like 2 rings cast into it, goes right through the front-to-back passage that feeds oil to the right bank lifters. Without the dist there is a massive internal pressurized oil leak from that passage being incomplete.
Well figured it out. Dont buy autozone parts. A cheap autozone distributer could have ruined my 10,000$ motor. They must have remaned that thing so much that there was no seal there. causing the engine to get no oil to the top end. Popped a different one out of my truck in it and damn if oil didnt start flowing through the pushrods.
