That is really too much cam.

The ones that seem to work the best are the XE256H and the XE262H. The 262 is borderline too big for an auto with stock converter.

I'd recommend you return the 270 and get the XE256H.

Yep, what he said. I'm getting the 268H and that's the limit I can use with my setup.

Expert here on 305's and Comp 270H
No, wont fly, way too much! I tryed one in my old lg4, it dident like it at all. 268 is still pushing it on a 305, 252 would be better suited. I ended up using the 305 in another veh with a melling MTC-1 and it loves that cam, good economy and great power from idle to 5800 and it gets there very quickly!!

Yep, but a 305 still wont like it. This cam loves high compression and a free flowing exhaust. Although the later 305's have higher compression I dont think its going to be much of a factor. If you were to use a 270H with a 305 then you must get other components to match it. Yes comp says it will work with a stock tq converter but I would suggest a 2500 stall converter, 3.73 gears and a good exhaust system. All of this just to use a 270H cam??? It isnt worth it IMO. I dont think comp expected anybody to be using this cam with a 305. This cam only came alive at 3000-6000 rpm in the 305. I had one in my 355 camaro before I went solid, with a 11.1 355 2400 stall converter and 3.42 gears and it pulled great from 2000-6000 and was great for the 355 but not for the 305.

The MTC-1 cam I mentioned is basicly sent from G0D just for a 305 IMO. Im soo happy with the 305 and the MTC-1, I cant praise it enough!:hail: MTC-1. I put that 305 1982 Lg4 in a full sized TBI truck, even with the ecm and components from a 4.3 V6 It gets up and goes.
