ok...2 questions...first i have an 89 camaro rs, 5 speed, vin E engine. what would be the base timing...my hood is off a v-6. secondly i just developed a missing problem last night. it idles fine, but when i get on the gas it feels like a cylinder will drop out. it has 140,000 miles on it, and i just took a look at the cap and rotor and found nothing out of the ordinary. so anyone got any ideas?

 

After the basic tune up procedures, plugs, wires, cap/coil/rotor if your problem still exist I would check the distributor pickup coil. It's pretty overlooked and it can produce the symtoms you suggest when it gets old and brittle.
