There will be a cam swap in the future. What all has to be done in order to do the swap??? It will be a ZZ4 cam. Will i need new springs? Machine work done? Please tell me everything i will need. I was told new rockers (1.6 i think) is this is??? It would be nice if it was a STRAIGHT SWAP. But nothin ever is. Part numbers and prices if you have would be great.
Thanks, Jesse

I'm no expert, but the only thing 1.6 rockers would do is increase the lift of the cam. You'll need a harmonic balancer puller. I just rented one from a local hardware store. When you do it, be sure to stick a rag or paper towels down into the distributor whole. Also be prepared to bend the metal support bars in front of the radiator to slide the cam all the way out.
Mostly is a straight swap. New springs should be done. You should also change your timing chain and gears while in there. You do not NEED new rocker arms but they will help performance. Shouldn't be any machine work necessary.
I don't have any part numbers, stuff is relatively easy to find. What you need:
rtv
timing gasket set(including water pump gaskets)
intake gasket set
timing chain and gears(good idea to change, cloyes at summit)
carb cleaner(clean all gasket surfaces very well)
lower/upper radiator hose are a good idea
coolant
oil/filter
torque wrench
beer
an oven(baking the crank gear if you replace it helps to get the new one on)
harmonic balancer puller/installer
You need to remove the intake, radiator and condenser, harmonic balancer. Change the oil.
If I think of anything else I'll post again.

I have an 89 L98, the machine shop that worked on my heads found that at about .460 lift the retainers hit the valve seals. So they had to machine down the vavle guides. This is only my personal experience I am not sure if anyone else has had this problem. They said it would have run like this, just would have torn up the valve seals in a little while.
