a few problems........

K, we were moving this weekend so i put on over 300 km on the car these 2 days , now once i start it after a drive i notice a bit of black smoke coming out of the exhaust for the first 10-15 seconds and the rpms are way low at 400 - 500 rpm , after these 10-15 seconds everything returns to normal , and the car runs fine. and i rebuilt the engine about 5 month ago , so i dont think it might be the rings....., another thing i noticed is oil in , and around the PCV valve , im not sure if it's suposed to be there , anyways , last night it also gave me a code 33 , and im not sure what it means , its an 88 camaro 2.8 mpfi , 5 spd . can anyone help me with any of my questions

thnx in advance

I believe black smoke means you're running rich. Sorry for the lack of help.

i got a code 33 once...thought it was my Mass Air flow sensor...replaced it a few times...turned out to be the relays located on the firwall in front of driver seat...one for power one for burn off....most like;ly the burn off...

Code 33

All except 1989 and earlier MPFI V6 and TPI V8:

MAP Sensor: Leaking or restricted vacuum hoses, poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit; defective MAF sensor; defective ECM

1989 and earlier MPFI V6 and TPI V8:

MAF Sensor: Poor electrical connection, open or short in circuit; defective MAF sensor; defective ECM

Hope that helps.

The PCV valve is not immersed in oil... but it still gets splashed under the valve cover... if there's oil inside the hose then the valve is shot and needs repacing
