Alcohol
This is gonna be a dumb question but, would you see any performance increase if you dump a bottle of 151 rum in the tank. It is basically ethanol. Which leads to another question what percent of methanol can you run before you have to modify everything?
Tim,
Methanol has a real affinity for lead. At concentrations of 2% or more, the methanol can acutally attack the lead in brass or bronze alloys, breaking down the molecular structure of the metal and cause failures. Fortunately, Detroit was aware of this and has severely limited the use of any bronze alloys in the fuel system for the past 30 years os more. Aftermarket suppliers and builders may not be aware of this, and may inadvertently offer bronze or brass parts for fuel system use.
Just another reason not to use "HEET" in your fuel tank to eliminate moisture. Isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol are much better and safer choices.
Besides, rum is supposed to be poured in glùg, not gasoline. :-P
