How safe is it to drive with a bad vss
My vss sensor went out on me on the way home from work today. The speedometer stopped working and then I got a check engine light. It gave me code 24.
Will I harm anything if I drive it like that?
Im going to replace it in a day or 2, but I need to get to work tomorrow. I will try to find another way if its going to damage something in my car.
Oh, and I know its not a good idea to drive without a speedometer, but im gonna follow cars in the middle and slow lane so I wont speed to much, hehe.
It is an 89 iroc with tpi and a 700r4.
Thanks

It won't really hurt anything. I drove around with mine like that for a few thousand miles, in order to get the correct mileage on the odometer after I switched instrument clusters.
The only think I noticed was that on occasion when I would come to a stop, the car would stall. But this was in part due to other problems as well. The computer uses the VSS input to help control the IAC, but it wont make enough difference to hurt anything.
So basically, don't worry about it.
