Oil Pressure?

I have a 87 TA with the LG4. My oil pressure has always been around 15psi while driving in town or on the highway. and when at a stop sign/light it would drop to around 5, but always goes back up.
we got a snow storm friday and saturday so i didnt drive or start it for about 72 hours (3days). today (sunday) i went up town real fast. i didnt even check my gauges untill i got about 5 blocks away from my house at the stop lights it was on the red line showing about 3psi. then i went it went up to about 7. my temp was normal. but i dont know why it is so low? is it because i let it sit for a while or is my pump just going bad??? any ideas?

The pump might be goin bad... thats whats wrong with mine.. mine will be pefect at statup and drving around... but once my car gets to normal driving temps my gauges goes way to down, then it doesn't move anymore.. but i check my oil everytime theres enough in there.. and theres no funky noises ever..
The part that i need is real cheap, prolly the same price for you, Im just to lazy to go get it

yeah i checked my oil level. it was okay. i guess i just need a new pump. it only has about 750 miles on this oil change so i know its not dirty. isnt a new pump like 40 50 bucks? and how hard are they to put in. just take off the oil pan and its all right there or is there more to it?

You should also check out your oil sending unit

For both of you it sounds like you have some bearing problems. How much mileage on those motors?

It is very common for pressure to be up when COLD because the oil is think. Give it about 15 min of driving until it thins out then it will drop slightly. If it drops too much, you definetly have a problem. Just replacing a pump wont help you on that. I would look into it further.

What thickness of oil are you using?

It should be on the drivers side next to the firewall. Little cylinder looking thing about 2 in. long. Its screwed into an oil line with a 2 wire connector on it.
Hope that helps.
