wtf... Friends ford issues...
Alright, a girl that I go to school with has a Ford Escort (I know, mistake number 1). She said that she was driving around today and when she stopped at a light, and then went again, the car wouldn't go. It didn't stall out, it just didn't go. She said that she didn't hear the engine rev or anything (but it was still running) She also said that the car began to roll backwards even though it was definatly in gear (its an automatic). She's not the brightest bulb in the bunch, but I believe her when she said that all of these things happened. I couldn't reproduce any of them however.
Anyone hear of anything like this?? All I can think of is some major slippage...

GO ESCORT!
heh.. t'was my first car when i tured 16
those shifters are really EASY to move so i agree with Rezinn on that one..
but then i did blow 3 tranny's in a year on 'em. but every time the motor would still rev up..
there's throtle cable so nothing electronic should stop the motor from reving up.. (unless the ignition system is fcked but then it'd stall or something) but not hearing the engine.. well.. they're quiet little cars.. unless u rev 'em up to 7 grand.. (gt models).. somewhat decent of a music level would probably be enough to make you not notice it rev up.. (unless you got a gauge).
neways..
see if it ever happens again. mine would start to slip out of gear before the tranny went.. and if you checked the tranny fluid.. it smelled horrible..

Ok, this might be crazy, but my girl friend came home the other day, and said the power steering just stopped working. After thinking about this for a minute, I ask if she had to restart the car by any chance ? yeaaa.
So, I'll leave it up to you to ask. Remember, I didn't ask if it stalled, I asked if she needed to restart it.

it was sort of what I was thinking too... She's a really sweet girl, but the motor in her head has seized... Like I said, I drove it it ran fine, ran it at about 6 g's for couple minutes, the little bastard screams...
Why does it seem that everyones first car was an escort or tempo??? Ya'll remember the tempo's (four door fury, as I like to call em!)

I pimp them hossss.
The secret is not trading in your old cars for new ones. However I did trade in my Grand Am.
..and never lease, always finance the car YOU want.
..and there nothing wrong with buying used. All my cars I bought used, even the Vette I got for 20 grand back in '98.
I bought the Impala LS, with 5000 miles on it for 18 grand. It was a killer deal since them puppies go for 24 new & loaded.

After reading the title of the topic, I thought I'd just remind you that "Friends don't let friends drive Fords"

Damn Fords.
My 87 Turbo Coupe has a habit of leaving me stranded, not wanting to start sometimes. Then come back later and starts right up??
Turns out to be TFI module in these cars are such pieces of junk that there's a lawsuit in court right now and Ford has to pay for anyone who's had to replace them in the first 100k miles.
Oh well, Fords are good for winter cars up here in snow belt!!

they settled the ignition module lawsuit didn't they? How far back does that lawsuit go on the vehicles, someone said only back to the 94 model year.
I hear you about the 69 camaro and the judge, but don't forget an Olds Rocket or a road runner....
