Fuel Filter

Ok I am going to change the fuel filter this weekend. First time I have done it on a car like this. Do you guys have any tips to tell me so I won"t get into any trouble? Where should I place the jack stands under the car? Any advice will be appreciated.

First loosen the cap and relieve the fuel pressue by pulling the fuse and starting car. It might be better to have a low about of fuel in the tank also, when I did mine it was about 3/4 full, and fuel was all over the place. It was probably flowing out like it was because I jacked it up from the rear, this is the only way to get to it, but if possable try getting the car level by placing ramps or something under the front also. This might help fuel from flowing out the line when you disconnect it. For the fuse instead of pulling it from the block there is another. Once you have acess to the filter, you will see an electrical connection that leads to the back of the tank up against the floor pan. You can just disconnect it from there since you will already be under there.

Keep in mind that if the car hasnt been started from the night before, you will have no pressure. That's the way I like to do it.

DID MINE YESTERDAY

i had jackstands under rear axle and was changing rear shocks
so while i was there i did the fuel filter also .

the shocks were the originals i think .big improvement there and the fuel filter was old! i notice a slight increase in throtle response with the filter swap. not bad to change at all took 5 min and lost about 1/2 a cup of gas .

Yeah just have that new filter handy so that when you take off that old you can put the new on right after to stop the flow of fuel.
