What will a curve kit do for me?

hey guys.. cars running fine ..rebuilt the carb at my buddies house....THE RIGHT WAY WITH THE RIGHT TOOLS.....and now everything is fine......just some fine tunning and she'll be on the road...

tomarrow i want to index the plugs, put on new plug wires, new cap , new rotor..and a curve kit...

what can i expect from a curve kit.....any throttle response????mid range?? i'm not too farmiliar with them..

any suggestions on brands.. or certain types......measurements..

thanx guys...... btw....my vacuum advance is hooked onto the manifold vac.......soo at idle my car is 36 degrees+......would a curve kit hurt my car....

It's a tuning aid. The weights will control how much total advance the distributor will get and the springs control how quickly the advance comes in.

You can't just put a kit in and expect it to work. It's a trial and error process unless you have a distributor recurve machine.

Total advance depends on a lot of factors. How quickly it should be at total advance changes slightly. For best performance, you should be at total advance before 3000 rpm.

Without totally mixing everything up and having your engine running worse it's better to just take your distributor to someone who has experience and a recurve machine. Once he knows your vehicle combination, he can recurve the distributor better than those simple kits will ever do.
