Is this BS ?!?

Called a machine shop to see about getting my rotating assembly balanced and they wanted 185 to do it. Reasonable.... Then I mentioned I have a 350 flywheel to use with it. They said that's gonna cost me a LOT more money since they would take 5-6 hours to balance it with that. Why would it take so long ?? Would I be better off using one of those porkchop plates along with it ?!?

Yes it will take a whole lot longer, because they'll have to drill about a hundred holes around about half of the flywheel to get it to balance.

The balance shop in my former area charged about $75 12 years ago to do the flywheel alone like that IIRC.

Get the flywheel done; it's much better than the pork chop for several reasons.

I guess this is gonna be a lot more expensive then I thought. 206 dollars for the flywheel from Autozone. 200 to get it balanced and a lot more to make the flywheel work. Shoulda went with an automatic.... sigh.

Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to get a 400 flywheel?
