Is the stock intake in '87 alluminum like I beleive? Because we just took it off the car for polishing and it seamed pretty hefty. Anyone know for sure?

Look at the front of the intake. There should be a checkered pattern below the carb somewhere I believe. If it's not there it ain't stock aluminum.

Excuse the grunge. It was really dirty and crapily painted. Please understand.

There definately is some iron-oxide, or rust it seems. Thoughts?

"in there"...

Why waste time polishing a stock intake anyway ? Get a nice Edelbrock RPM or something and make that pretty !

Nothing wrong with the stocker. It should be alluminum and dual planed. The 87+ was a different bolt pattern and the only aftermarket is the Edelbrock Performer, which is not much more than stock in flow.

Looks like I am looking at one now.

its VERY easy to make an 86-down manifold work with the 87-up bolt pattern. The 4 middle bolt holes are just slightly off. All you need to do is grind off a little.

The intake I pulled off of my 350 was identical to yours. POS.
I swapped for an aluminum Holley, that cast iron one weighs about 40lbs. more.

Give me a "C"!

Give me an "A"!

Give me an "N"!

Give me an "ADA"!

What's it spell?

"CANADA"!

You may have been spared CC and some emissions controls, but you were also saddled with cast iron intake manifolds.

There, I feel better now...

Doh! That is so dumb, eh? Why would we get that? Thanks 5, for putting 2 and 2 together.

Now I woull have to tag on an Edelbrock Performer intake, or search the junkyards of NY for a 87 only, carb V8 inatke. I think not!

Any other EGR intakes that I can adapt? Not to thrilled with a Performer, because it is like stock for u Americans. Something like an airgap for better performance.

That's your answer. Well, elongate the holes slightly as well. All the adapting you'd need to do.

That’s because Iron is ferromagnetic material. The electrons that spin around the atom in iron and the magnet both spin in the same direction causing them to align themselves and bind together. Forces that you can feel but when are you ever going to know that?

Canada! Love it, but what can you do!

Talk about automotive racism, but I guess we Canucks aren't really a race... Call it what you will, I am still P.O.ed about it!
