****ed up big time replacing injectors...

Well a few of my injectors finally took a crap on me in my '88 gta. As if removing ALL the CRAP just to get to the injectors and the fuel rail wasn't hard enough, the 10mm bolts were torqued down like ******* lug nuts. What the **** were they thinking?!?!?!?! I was praying they'd come off and 3 did before i got to the bolt near the fuel pressure regulator. THis was the last bolt i needed to remove. Well it was on real tight and it just rounded right off. I tried going at it with some vice grips but that wasn't going to work. So now i'm stuck here with practically half my engine in pieces and a ton of my time in the trash and one little goddam bolt is holding me back. I need to get this bolt off because i don't have the $$$ right now to send it to a shop and i need this to get me to work. So what do i do now to get this bolt off? Please i need all the help i can get so any advice will be greatly appreciated.......

I'd attempt to drill or cut the head off the bolt, just try not to ding up the fuel rails too much in doing it. Once thats off you can pull the rails off (dont forget the bolt up front where the fuel lines attach) and there should be about 1/2" of bolt sticking out of the manifold with little in the way anymore. That you should be able to get out if the bolt is even going to come out.

And just in case, you might have to free the injectors up from the rails first, just in case. I know they are at an angle and the fuel rail will have to come straight up, but there is a little bit of play in how far those can move and it might just be enough.

WE use a compound called "screw grab", here in the 'force. It basically is sand, or metal filings suspended in a gel. This stuff kicks butt. Not too many screws are there i can't get out with a tube of this stuff. Line your socket with this stuff, and go to town. On a side note, if you can't find it , i have had mediocre success with spit and dirt.

Red,

Those bolts probably weren't overtourqued, but they may be seized by carbon fusion to the aluminum. Try some penetrating oil and give it time to penetrate. The "First Try" compound that IROC suggested can help get a good bite between the bit and fastener.

And don't get me started on Peterson Vise-Grips. They make great welding clamps, and that's about it. Use either Knipex pliers of ChannelLock 410s on tough jobs that need a real grip. You may still be able to get it with either of those. Oh, and forget about those Craftsman "Robo-Grip" pieces of crap, too.

If that doesn't get it moving, you may be down to cutting as Max suggested.
