305 HO Heads on my LO3
305 HO Heads on my LO3
Will these heads bolt right on and work find with my LO3 block?
I will be able to use my current intake correct? What else should I consider when doing this swap.
I know it won't be a huge power increase but will it get me over the 200hp wall or at the wall? Beats the 170hp of the LO3?
Thanks.

Exactly what heads are you talking about? The "HO" designation was only used for L69 carb engines, and they were pre-'86. If that's what you mean, your '87-later pattern intake won't bolt right up, but with a little elongation of the center two bolt holes on each side, it will. Bolting to the block is not an issue, as all use the same pattern there.
Unless these heads you are considering are built up and free, you might want to consider World 305 heads instead. They are available with the '87-later bolt pattern.
Or, LB9 heads (which may be what you're talking about) are better than the swirl port LO3 heads, and are available in '87-later bolt pattern - in that case, they will bolt right up.
The performance increase will be greater if the heads are opened up a little in the bowls, and if the exhaust is improved. Actually, exhaust improvement would probably produce more of a performance improvement than the head change. Then cam change, of course...

Actually I've got these things for free, so why not just stick them on my LO3 daily driver?
We were all under the impression that they are 305 TPI HO heads. Me and Zepher and Lotsofballs were all trying to get our hands on them, but they are mine now!
So I just want to make sure, or I'll pass them on to Zepher.

Okay, TPI heads. No "HO" associated with them. And, they are 305 58cc chambers, correct?
If '87-later, they'll bolt right on.
One other difference, '88-later used self-aligning rocker arms. If the heads are '87, and you have self-aligning rockers (assume the "89" in your username means an '89 car, which means they are), you could produce a binding condition on the pushrods.
