Problem with engine install

Ok, heres the problem...

We just put in my 355 engine and hooked everything up and when you turn the key the fan and fuel pump comes on but the car doesnt fire. We can start the car however now by running a line between the starter wire and and the battery wire I believe with a push button in the dash. That takes care of starting the car but the gauges like speedo and tach don't work??? Any suggestions? Thanks

Go back to the starter and make sure the fusible links on the purple wires are intact. Make sure the ignition switch is operating all the contacts correctly. You should have power to all the orange wires when the switch is turned to RUN.
