Help!! Scratched Crankshaft!!

Ok, I am an idiot. When I was removing the rods from my crankshaft (just turned 20 under) I put a small scratch in the journal. Can I just polish this out? Thanks

Depends on how "small"...

I wouldn't run it. The cost of building up and installing a motor with a fornicated crank, then discovering it when it blows up, then having to re-do it, is so much greater than a regrind, it's not worth the risk.

IMO, unless this is going in a put around town vehicle i wouldn't even use anything more than 10 or 15 reground in anything i build. just me though. if the bearings say .020 then they are .020

Do you have a digital camera?
That would help these guys help you here. I had a scratch in my crank that the machine shop put there, and I still used it. 90000 miles later, it is still going. But, the scratch didn't stick out at all, and it was for an LG4, with no mods. And I see that isn't exactly what you're running.
If you have the cash handy, a new crank won't hurt.

Good Luck,
Jeremy
