intake manifold advice
Getting ready to replace my intake manifold gaskets AGAIN. Did it a little over two years ago. My question is what type of gaskets are best and do you use any sealants or not. The jury is split on that one. I picked up Fel-Pro printoseal gaskets, also have stock set. I cleaned everything the last time and torqued in sequence and to spec. I am going to switch to 12 point's instead of the Torx head. There really is no practical way to retorque because of the port tubes. Like to hear from someone who has done it and gotten some time out of the job. Any advice welcome, Danno

It is leaking in area of cyl 2+4. I am drawing oil into the combustion. Developed a miss and pulled plugs 2+4 found them oil fouled. Used propane to verify leak, idle got better when in that area. Checked on Edelbrock site and they recommend gasket sealer with stock gaskets, none on thier Printoseal type. I am going to the 12 points so I can at least try to retorque if necessary. Also deck surfaces were true so I think it is just because of the different expansion coefficients of alum vs. cast iron. Not that hard to do but those port tubes are a bitch to get back lined up. They must warp or distort slightly, who the heck knows. Thanks for the thread, Dan

I have always used standard FelPro with a light smear of silicon
around the water passages on both sides and have never had
a problem.
I have used printoseal on Fords, installed dry and have not had
a problem that way either.
