starting problems

when i start it up with the key, no problem at all.. fires right up.. however.. i just installed a remote start, and all that does is crank it.. now i dont hear the fuel pump "whirring" when the remote start engages, so i hooked up the second ignition output of the remote start to the fuel pump.. if i do that, the fuel pump "whirrs" and the engine cranks, but.. it still doesnt fire up.. am i missing somehting? the solenoid is getting 12v, that *should* be all the engine needs to start....... right? please lemme know if im missing something

Do you have a hook up to your coil? I had a remote starter put on my car and I am pretty sure they had to hook up to the coil.

i elected to use the voltage sense rather than the rpms to let the remote start know if the engine was started or not.. it shouldn't make too much of a diff tho..

the main question i have is basically.. what does it take to start the engine? if the only thing you do is put +12v to the solenoid on the starter, should it fire up?

Mud,

You also have to supply power to the ignition system, and the fuel injectors. If you power up the IGN side of the switch, the ECM should take care of the injectors, fuel pump, etc.

my remote start has a wire going to the white wire on the coil harness, although since I put the MSD in it hardly works now but I dont trust my car bein on without me in it anyway lol.
