Will not having the EGR make me fail emissions testing?

They dont check under the hood but Im wondering if my emissions numbers will show that the EGR is not there.

 

Anyone try passing emissions without EGR?

 

It depends. You might be able to pass a sniffer without the EGR valve but it will be difficult. You will need to make the motor run a lot cooler to keep NOx emissions under control, which conversely might make your HC and CO emissions go up, so.........

 

actually passing a sniffer with no egr is not really a problem if your car is well tuned, done it many times when I lived back east, but you'll never pass a visual inspection if your state requires one.

I have been through twice and they have never looked under the hood. They look for a cat though

Any tuning that will help me pass?
