lol i really dont know how to explain it
but let me try it again
when (i guess) i'm downshifting the transmisition make a loud noise and then kicks and jearks the car
it's almost as if it's slamming into gear
but when i take it to the shop it does not happen????????

sounds like a broken tranny mount. those are easy to change. you can do that in your driveway in about a half hour. all you need is a couple wrenches and a ratchet and some jackstands and jack.
I'll second the tranny mount. The ac thing is fairly normal, my dads car does that as well and his ac and heat work fine. I've heard it in a lot of cars, but I can never figure out what it is.

I was going to suggest the torque arm mount. That rubber one looked pretty nasty on my car when I pulled it. I put the Energy Suspension polyurethane one on, and man, that thing really improved my handling. The back end of the car feels much more secure. I wonder if the torque arm mount bushing was rotted away badly, if the thunk is the torque arm swinging upwards (after levering downwards while braking) and not having any rubber to cushion it.
