Who makes 1-7/8" primary headers?
Who makes 1-7/8" primary headers?
I know Lingenfelter does, but I am not big on thos prices. I could settle of a 1-3/4" but I dont want to put any restrictions on the 406 if it could make 500 hp. I am expecting approximately 480 hp. Thanks guys!

I think Stahl does, but you'll like those prices even less, to say nothing of what you'll have to do to install them.

Hedman makes up to 2" that I know of but they're not street headers. Full race and again you're not going to like the price.
I know that Hooker makes some 1 3/4" headers. If worse comes to worse, I will have to go with something like that. In the end, the motor is all about streetable torque, so the smaller headers will work. 1 3/4" headers are only supportive of around 450 hp, lowly goals for a 406.

i think header dia is a little over mistified
I have see dyno tests of everything from 2" on mild 350s and 1 7/8s on bigblocks. It really does not make that much difference. It will move the power band around a little but not kill power as some tend to think.
If you have to make them long just to fit the large tubes and them be close to equal length, you just about kill any benefits.
A 1 3/4 hooker supercomp will move enough are (edit- I should have said air, I am not black beard the pirate) for any 400 that is spinning to 6500. And there arn't too many that turn more than that.

Thaks, jcb.
What size primaries are the Edelbrocks? I asked Edelbrock tech and they said: It's staggered 1-1/2" 1-5/8". What does that mean?

they use a stepped header
the in thing now.
The first 5-8 inches are the smaller diameter and the rest is the larger pipe.
Keeps velocity up and reversion down.

Coolness... that is quite the smart idea. The exhaust velocity increase would increase torque as well the reversion decrease would increase the quality of the burn. Two thing that are important with this engine for me.
