fan not working

ok.. here is the deal.

car has been overheating. so i did a thermostat change & a rad flush.. still over heated. then i noticed that the fan isnt turning on.

i found that the fan works if i hook it directly to the battery.

since i was already 10hours late leaving for vegas from colorado (also did brakes, oil, new washer pump, other minor things).. i just ran a wire w/an aligator clip from the fan positive wire to the battery.

so what can b causing the fan not to turn on? sensor/switch? where is it.. heads?

thanx for the time.

since you know that the fan runs start by checking the fan relay. it should be near the battey stuck to the radiator support.

The switch that measures temp and causes the fan to kick on is on the passenger side of the engine right below the plugs. Maybe your wire is toasted, loose connection or the switch is bad. Make sure your car isn't hot if you need to change the switch...coolant is behind it.

The temp sensor near the plugs is only for the temp gauge on the Insterment panel. The one for the ECM (that turns the fan on and off) is on the front of the engine near the water pump.
