Balancing a stroker

How is a stroker (or just a 400) externally balanced? I know The balancer itself is counter balanced. Then the flexplate is counter balanced. I was looking at my 400 crank and the back side that the flexplate bolts too, appears that it is counter balanced... My flexplate the shop gave me (that I installed) does not have the counter weight... How bad does it hurt an engine to run like this? I just drove it down the street and back before I realized it was vibrating way too much...

Thanks

A 400 or 383 has to have the extra weighted flywheel (or flexplate) and vibration damper or it will vibrate like crazy. It will kill the bearing very fast if you run it like that. Get it fixed right and whatever machine shop let you leave without the right parts are idiots and should be shut down!

It said 400 on the box... How about the starter? I think I saw somewhere that it has a different tooth count? I'm really getting pissed about this whole thing..
