Belt routing for track??

I have an 88' 350 tpi irocz, and at the track i was going to take off my belt, put a groved pulley on the tensioner and put on a belt that doesn't go around or use the A/C and the Air pump. Can i do this or will all my plastic and rubbber connections melt because of not running the air pump. Keep in mind i would do it at the track and thats it!!!
