ok I went for a good test run with the laptop.. spark counts at first I would get the odd 1 or 2 but once the engine warmed up I wasent getting any.. max it had went was 2.. except when I start up or shut off the engine.. once it went to 250 on shut off and I think about a 9 on startup.. I assum that is false knock?

now my question is should I advance more?? I'm currently at 5* and running 94 octaine fuel.

if I advance when do I stop and do I have to reset the ecu everytime I changed the timing?

My scanner also shows some knock at start-up and some at shutdown. I assume the knock at shutdown is the sensor picking up all the noise going on at that instant. Nothin to worry about unless the knock counts are going up ALOT while you are driving.

I think you could try advancing the timing a little. Get a good timing light and start at 4*. If you don't get any knock then you could try 6*.

I assume you know how to set the timing since you got the engine in already.
