89 GTA vs 94 T/A

I raced my buddy in his automatic transam LT1 last night. From a dead stop i hauled *** away from him and got a good car length on him. We pulled up to about 145 km/hr and he could not fully catch up to me. He was about up to my rear quarter panel when we let off at around 145 or so. Given that that is usually the average speed of stock cars in the 1/4 mile i would have to say i would take him in the 1/4 with out much of a doubt. We did this 3 times with the same result everytime. he was kinda miffed and is still saying he can beat my car...it just won't be in the 1/4mile. Should this come as a surprise or not???

If you've got a 350 then it doesn't come as a big suprise. A stock LT1 car is going to run a low-mid 14 in automatic form with an average driver. A 6 speed car should be able to pull a high 13 to low 14. And if you've got an L98 the low 14 isn't all that hard for you to pull.

Nice kill!

It must feel good to beat the newer, "faster", generation. What have you done to the car?

The thing is I haven't done anything. Well i shouldn't say that. I've done lil things but nothing that should make me beat my buddy there. As i've mentioned before in a previous post. All i have done is a Accel cap and rotor which was just normal maintnence and i also have a accel 8.8mm race wires which would make no diff. And the only thing the kinda help me out is my 300+ Ignition box and coil. So i guess i just have a slightly hotter ignition. Aside from that the motor is all stock. I haven't even taken the screens off my maf yet.

What is 145 KPH in MPH?

I beat a 96 Z28 recently up to 110 MPH..by about a length or so..in my '91 GTA with just minor exhaust mods..

We both had our T-Tops off, and both are auto's =P

145 km x .6214 = 90 mph
