This guy who I go to school with, just got a 79 Corvette t-top. It's perfect from the looks of it. I'm pissed with jealousy! Anyway, I plan on replacing my TBI305 as soon as I can, but my question is, how would I go about making my car beat his? What kind of engines do these cars have in them? Both of our cars are autos. He's not the best driver, so I think I'm a little better, or atleast I like to think so . Thanks, PS it's a beaut.

my buddy's dad has one with the 350 auto and i spanked him by 5 cars at least...now you have a tbi so im not sure the outcome...does this vette have the 6spd/auto or what??

(i have a 350tpi 5spd just in case you are wondering)

does his car look like this?? if so you may lose just b/c you have a tbi...anyways race him...aint no shame in trying..but post what happens...

I thought about buying one before i bought my IROC.
a couple of things discuraged me from getting one.
1. i wanted a "daily driver" sure a IROC sucks gas, but i don't care on that part.....but it has more room than a 2 seater
2. i didn't want someone elses 20 yr old problem.
3. HP.....can't do much with 170 HP out of a 350...sure you can do a swap but see 1#
I would still like to have one one day.

well like i said i beat my buddies dad pretty bad 4-5 cars at least..a tbi may make it a better race... you might take it as long as you get the jump...

Although those vettes have crappy hp #s they do have a whole lot of torque. I say you race him with your tbi before you replace it. That way some tbi users know where they stand against a classic car. You never know you might take him.

 

Hey thanks for all the replies. He's not really a racing guy. He's #1 in our senior class, and kind of a dork. Not to be mean, but he doesn't appreciate the car, as much as I would ! But if I ever get the chance to race him, I will and post the results.
