'04 GTO Vs '04 Hemi Charger

Hey, better get this out of the way now... ive read in motor trend that Dodge is coming out with a RWD replacement for the Concord, called..you guessed it, the Charger.. it said it will have a 3.9 V-6, a 4.7 V-8, and best of all, a 5.7 hemi... the truck hemi puts out 320hp... so the hi-po hemi is gunna push i think 340-350hp... Who would win? and Iroc22, dont shut this down.. i know u will, but let it go untill it get crazy in here. No one can say anything about owning one, or racing one. all you can say is what you heard/read. iroc22, your a cool guy and keep this board clean, but sometimes, i think u hit the close button instead of the submit button.

I have not seen the pictures for the hemi charger but I have seen the GTO concept pics and they look too much like a Grand prix. Hopefully they do a good job with the hemi charger and a :hail: 5.7 hemi sounds great. Does anyone have pics of both?

My personal opinion is that the GTO will Have more power because dodge(chrysler) doesn't have any V8 powered cars, only trucks and Gm already has the LS1 which has been tuned for the F-body and Corvette so I think it wouldn't be any contest, and remember that the GTO is coming from the Holden Monaro, same plarform ,so it has bolt ons already available.

Well considering we haven't actually seen the charger, or know everything about it...you really can't tell yet. They're both pushing just about the same amount of power, the GTO should be in the high 13's hopefully. And depending on weight, trans, rear etc...of the charger i would geuss it would also be somewhere around the high 13's/low 14's. Looks wise i think the GTO looks good, but to plain, to much like the grand prix. The latest concept i've seen for the new charger doesn't appeal to me that much, it really needs to have some old charger cues in my opinion...in concept both cars coming back kicks A$$, but should be done better!

A tried and true LS1 in a chassis that's already been around a while in Australia vs. a completely new Hemi, in a new chassis, with a junk tranny, knowing chrysler. The 5.7 Hemi does have a Mercedes influenced twin plug design that isn't being used to its fullest yet. 5 years after its release and nothing on the road will be able to touch it. Right now though I have to give the nod to GM.

Why would I lock this when it's a theoretical race between two cars?

What are the weight specs on these cars? Available trannies?

If the 5.7 Hemi would bolt up to the R/T 10 tranny then I think it would be a really close race. It's a t56 isn't it? Chrysler only recently went to the two plug design, so they have a lot of bugs to work out and a lot of tuning to do. Nothing ever runs right it's first year out. If chrysler kept the canted valve head design then it's going to be far superior to the standard 1000000000 year old chevy design. Personally I'm still waiting for the return of the 4V cleveland headed BOSS STANG!

The new GTO looks pretty sweet. The monaro has 320hp over in Aussie land now, and the GTO is supposed to have 350hp by the time we get it here. Mate that to a six speed and WOW.
I'd hate to be the one to mistake that thing for a plain old Grand Prix.

GTO will win. The Charger is just another Dodge failure. Friggin 4-door Charger. What the hell is that bull****? Man, that really pisses me off. Foreign car company comes in and takes over a great American company and then ****s up their namesakes. Man, I'm steaming hot.....

The 4 door concept was scrapped wasn't it? i thought they started fresh...i think i seen a concept somewhere with suicide rear doors for the charger somewhere but i forget where...all in all the GTO is the better of the two as of now, but if the charger at least resembles the originals but in a more evolutionary way, it will look and be BadA$$! The monaro interior is sweet though, very nicely done, just not to keen on the exterior....The motor, tranny, suspension however very nice!

i would have to say that the interior is pretty sweet looking for a gm product. hopefully it will catch on and maybe GM will start making better looking interiors..

as for the two in a race, i would have to go with the GTO, but give that hemi some mods....and wow.
