86 lb9 vs. 88 l98 - great race

ok guys here hows it went, i got back into town tonight after my trip to the drag strip and i went to my friends house to show him my 9.7 timeslip. well he wanted to check out the dyno2000 program on my computer. Well him, me and his bro. headed to my house. (i had his bro. in my car) Well we got to a stop light and there was a neon at the light so he got behind me, we took of and he got by the neon and flew up beside me. WE both locked it done into 2nd, and went from about 35-80 mph it was pretty even with him only pulling me by a few feet, at the end of the race i was still on his qaurter. It was awesome he used to be able to freaking stomp me when my car was stock. And before you say its not that great that i beat a stock l98, let me tell you his mods.

Edelbrock headers
Flowmaster cat back
underdrive pulleys
K&n's
factory aluminum drive shaft
ported plenum
accel cap and wires
b&m shifter and shift kit
fiberglass hood
free mods

what do you guys think? not bad for a 305?

my mods are in the sig.

Nice. I think it's good that you kept up with him, considering his mods.

Damn, my old 86 IROC is almost identical to yours right down to the mods and new black paint with no IROC-Z decals now. I had a very similar GM cam (204/214 dur, .420/.442 lift), same headers, etc, etc. It ran really great for a 305. I beat two different L98 Vettes and a couple stock LT1 auto Camaros actually. My brother still has it, killed plenty of Stangs and stuff too... Nothing to sneeze at, always wanted to get a custom plate to read "JSTA305", lol...

What 60 foot time did you get with that open rear when you hit the 9.7, just wondering?

i ran a 2.356 60 ft. and it was at 72.5 mph . Yeah i have the crane compu cam it also is a 204/214 dur. cam , with 423/446 lift. I wish i would have gone a litte bigger now, but im looking into a 350 so it doesnt matter. Yeah my car runs well for a 305, i have beaten and auto lt1 too. never been beat by another 305 , asd far as i know i have the fastest 305 in town.

oh yeah . and you wont believe the people that dont think its an iroc, just because it doesnt have the door decals. Kinda sucks, this one kid with an iroc was like, "Oh you have the iroc wheels on yours " , im like "yeah its an iroc, it should." kinda debating wether or not to put them back on......

Great kill, but I would leave the decals off and let your performance speak for itself. The sleeper effect is great.
Theres nothing indicating that I'm TPI and not just any other v8 or v6. Plus it's not in the best of condition(cosmetically) so people don't expect much of a race against this ragged out old car.
