I was about to race an IROC-Z when....
...He decided to go off roading. I was behind him and I saw that the light in front of us turned yellow so I wasn't gonna run it and I didn't think he was going to either but he gunned it and took a sharp left turn. It was awsome, some how he managed to get loose in a turn. He was showing off to me that he could spin the tires in a turn! I was
then he did a semi 180 and before I knew it I was looking at his headlights again and he hit a telephone pole and crushed his rear side, broke the hatch glass, and I guess he got stuck. Well I'm still sitting at the redlight wondering what the **** just happened. After he got out and looked at his car and saw what he did I don't think he wanted to race anymore. He kinda looked mad and flicked me off. I just signaled, turned left like I was supose to and gave him a congrats rev as I went by. I guess it was gonna be hard telling the cop it was an accident with those two black marks going to his crash site. Oh well I guess it is true that some people should go to driving schools. :hail:

Thats funny **** man. I saw some jack-*** do the exact same thing in a really clean iroc in front of my old shop, I guess he thought he was showing off but it got away from him and he jumped a curb ( and actaully got some pretty nice air ) then hit a telephone pole. ****ing morons!

Monkie, that was a great story! I take it that driving school isn't required in your state then. That is just about the worst case situation for a 16 yr old, brand new drivers license and (usually) daddy's car to beat on with absolutly no experience to help them out. IMHO everybody should go through a regular driver's ed., then go to one of those high perfprmance driving schools (skip barber etc). Then maybe some of these people will know how to handle their cars.

other people will think they are godly drivers because they went to a performance driving school and therefore take even more risks.
About once every 18 months, my father ends up playing tag with a deer/tree/road sign in his '87 IROC. It was a beautiful car, but most of the time it has as-yet unpainted replacement body panels on it. I'm trying to talk him into giving it to my younger brother, but just another example of flagrant irresponsibility in F-body ownership.

i had a friend who wrapped his 88 iroc around a telephone pole. he was at a stoplight turning left and a friend of his was in a 99 grand am gt in front of him. the grand am spun when it went through the turn and so did my friend....except he couldnt control it and went sideways, over a curb and hit the pole. totaled it....
we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later...he drove like a jacka$$....

Ok the kid was stupid to do that there, but don't say, "oh he shouldn't have a camaro if he can't handle the power."
There's always the first time you drive "real" power. Sorry guys, but stock TPI's are not real power anymore. True it was when i first started off, but I was just like him, except I took it to a parking lot at night and see what "she" can handle. that is the only way to really learn your cars limits. or like Hawaiin, take it auto-xing. So anybody that says they've never lost control of their car has never really taken it to the edge.
But it sucks that he wrecked it. He learnt the hard way I guess.
hehehe... too bad you didn't live around here. I'd like to see a Cobra give me the Naawwwsss!!!

hey when i first learned real power was when i was able to touch the pedals and see over the dash at the same time. so when i was about 8 which was 9 yrs ago. and its been 6 yrs since i was allowed to go **** around with cars in empty streets. c even when i was a little kid i was smart enuff not to hit curbs. and when i got my permit i was smart enuff not to go **** around in the middle of a intersection. i mean there is a time to **** around a time to be serious but there is never a time to go **** up a perfectly good car.
see i learned in steps burnouts and donuts first or i should say driving first but my first steps of learning a our cars full potential. the next was toe and heeling the next was lining up the syncros to powershift. the last was going from reverse to 1st or 2nd.
now its.... time to do these
