86 Non stock camaro VS relatively stock 87 GN
86 Non stock camaro VS relatively stock 87 GN
My buddy had an 87 GN (the best year) and it was stock with 79,000 miles on it.
Since last year he has put on headers, cold air intake and a chip. I found a timeslip from the prev owner in the car with a 12.8 time!!! Did those babys run 12s from the factory? The guy who he bought it from owns his own speed shop, and I think he was spraying to get those times.
Anyways. Will my camaro beat him if I add everything in my trunk and the PORTED TFS twisted wedge heads, holley street dominator intake, scorpion roller rockers, crane pushords, and Comp XE 284 cam?
Will I need NOS?

Spraying? Doubt it. Previous owner probably did something like this: Race Gas + Slicks + Upped Boost = 12 Sec 1/4. And no, they didn't run 12's stock. 14's usually, but with a couple small things they're in the 12's. With all the stuff you've got for your car I'd hope you beat a basically stock GN. By the way, what type of headers did he put on the GN? The stockers are good to the tens, and if he bought the Hookers its probably going to be even slower.
I don't know about the headers
I'll ask him, but I know he got them from a specialty catalog.
I just don't know what times I will be ruinning with the head/intake/cam/valvetrain swap. plus the suspension goodies.
Right now I am hoping high 13s, but more like low 14s on streets.

You will need quite a few mods to run with that GN. Those cars are phenomenal when it comes to mods. They respond like a dream. He probally spent the bare min to get it that low. But race him to compare how you do and your progress.
