raced an 86 LB9 Iroc...

and lets just say i was surprised.had me off the line for about 60 feet, never more than a half length ahead, then i got even with it and had it by a length around 60.my cars mods are in the sig,and the 'roc is totally stock.its my buddies sisters car,and i had a chance to drive it one time.great torque, but dead at the top.now i know why you TPI guys go to blowers!anyways i think with a k&n and exhaust it would be even with me.do i have a good running LO3 or is the 'roc one of the slower ones made?later guys!

I think the iroc was in bad condition if you beat it. Stock it should be low 15s. Good job, sounds like your car is running well.

What would a 1986 TPI LB9 T/A run with a full exhaust??? My cousin's may be done soon (computer issues) and he wants to race me? Will either of us win by a lot?

Oh yeah 5.0!

You'll take him out pretty bad judging from the ET in your sig.

'86 was the absolute worst year for the LB9. Most of the reason it was such a terrible performer was because of its small cam compared to other years. (aka peanut cam)

When you say full exhaust, do you mean headers and cat-back? If so then he'd run around a high 14. With exhaust only, I'd say he'd run a mid/low 15.

My '85 pulled a 15.0 in stock form...but with a much better cam (not aftermarket, but better specs than '86)

later,
Doug

I'm pretty sure, they get a different induction to help out higher rpm breathing, not slapping a blower on it.

Yeah i know alot of the TPI guys just switch induction totally, but then you got those hardcore TPI guys that love it and swear by it,so they throw a big ol honkin blower on there and run 12's.like Willie!

As a former TPI advocate, I'll just say one thing.

If more people ran Carb setups on their L98's, there would be a LOT more people in the 12's.

I agree, but a blower does jack crap to help TPI breathe at higher rpms.
