I wrote a street racing story..
U guys wanted some good street racing stories so here is one.It isn't true. But I think it is alright. And by the way I DID WRITE THIS.
He was born in 1974.By the time he was 4 U could tell he was different.Wether it was handing his dad wrenches,Or driving his go-cart.He was a natural.By the time he was 10 he had a fairly good idea on how an internal combustion engine worked. When he was 12 He helped his dad build an engine. He learned many things from his father. Most of which where about cars.He lived for cars.Hearing a big block rev 6 grand through open headers gave him an exciting feeling. When he was 15 he got a job.It wasn't much just a job doing lawn maintaince.HE finaly saved up enough money to buy his first car.It was an 86 camaro sport coupe. It had the LG4 engine code. And a automatic 700r4.He got the weak little 305 to be reliable.By the time he was 16 he had a decent car.He had big plans for it though.
When he turned 16 he got a better job.He bought a 350 block and saved his money.eventually he had enough to build his dream motor. It went to the machine shop and got all the neccesary machine work done.He bought a steel 383 crank and went from there. He used forged pistons,a big roller cam,All the right stuff. He used a set of heavily ported vortec heads. He used an RPM air gap intake with a 750 street demon.By now he had a lot of money and time into this engine. He had it dynoed. It made 550hp and 600ft pounds. He knew he needed a tranny that could hold up to it.So he bought a borgwarner super t-10.He took it and had all the right machine work done to make it handle this kind of power and make sure he didn't miss a shift. He changed the car over to accept the 4 speed. He had a custom driveshaft made. All this went through a currie 9 inch with disk brakes and 4.10 gears.
He installed the new motor and tranny on a Wednesday night. He was waiting for his exhaust to come in.He waited the longest week of his life.He finnally got the hooker super comp long tubes. He built his own exhaust using flowmaster mufflers. The exhaust was only about 3 foot long on each side.Since he had bought another car he could now make this his dedicated drag car.He gutted the entire car leaving only 2 racing buckets with simpson harnesses. The car rolled on weld pro-stars with Mickey thompson all the way around.
The night had finnaly arrived. The car had been a secret. No one except his closest freinds knew about it.He trailered the car close to the local spot and drove it from there. When he got there. There where 4 other 3rd gens,6 fox bodies,an a couple of 4th gens.Where he was from they didn't run for money.Just to know they where the king of the streets.Right away people came up and asked what he had done.He told them.(most of it anyway)And it didn't take long to get an invite to run.He was racing a fox body stang. He knew the car was quick. He knew the guy was spraying.
So they go to where they run at.He had been here many times. But he had only watched.Never ran.He hit the line lock,Shifted into 1st and let the clutch out.He heated the tires up. He released the line lock and the car jerked forward. He rolled up to the line and waited. He could hear the stang's turbo spool up.It was big to.The stang rolled up to the line and purged the nitrous system.
They where now ready to run.The starter raised his arms. Both cars brought the revs up.And the starter gave the signal. The camaro hooked perfectly. The front end raised up and sat back down nicely. He grabbed 2nd gear and the car was running great.Waited till 5 grand grabbed third.By now the stang was right at his rear bumper. He had never felt anything like this before. It was pure adrenaline.Pure speed. What he lived for.Again he shifted at 5 grand. He was now 3 lengths ahead of the stang. The finish line was getting closer. He crossed it and a feeling came over him.He had done it.He had created something that was accuattly quick. He drove back to the local spot. And then the stang arrived. They shook hands. He everyone said it had to be the new fastest car around. They used a radar gun to see the speed of the cars.He was doing close to 130mph.The strip was perfectly level. And exactly ¼ mile long.
Later that night whenever he returned home.He unloaded the car and drove it in the shop.He parked it right next to his dad's 69 camaro. He wondered if his was faster. His dad car had a 502 that ran on alcohol. It was back halved with a 4-link.33/18.50 good year slicks.Just a full on drag car.Ran the ¼ in 10 seconds.
Right than he realized That even though his car wasn't as fast as his dad's.He still had just as much fun in it that his dad did in his car. That is what it was all about.feeling the accelaration.Feeling the sense of acclomplishment.and then he realized he was hooked. For the rest of his life he would always have to have the feeling. It was those feelings that kept him alive.

i like the story
one thing that nags at me is the vortec heads.. you need some better heads to make 500 to 600 hp..
in any good case, nice work!

Dude if this story is just for us here on the board cool, great. However, if the story was for a class or something that's not good because normal people have no idea what most of that means. Also a decent build 383 shifts higher than 5 grand, and I'm not sure it would have much of a shot against a Nitroused Turbo Mustang. But I'm sure Nic or one of the other Mustang guys can help me here.
Good story though, has a lot of potential. By the way I write race stories too if there, was a place to post I would be glad to.

Edit: BTW I think it was a great story, a couple grammatical and spelling irregularities, but it really puts you in the drivers seat.

Pun intended...

Thansk for the replies. As far as the technical stuff.I wasn't sure on alot of it.I am still learning about race engine's.I knew that the vortec head probably wouldn't make 500hp.But I just used them
Yeah the story was just for the here on the baord. It probably sounds weird. But I make up stories when I am just riding in the car.I just figured I would write one I made up to see what people thought.
Thanks.
Sorry for all the spelling errors I have been making here lately. For some reason I am gettin worse at it to.

I really liked the story, but the way you used he to start almost every sentence got on my nerves. I think he should have driven his car to the place he met the other racers. Trailer queens suck.
U know I never even noticed that I started all my sentence's with "he".I will have to change that. Thanks for the tip.
I figured the car would not very cruise worthy. So I figure he would trailer it there to.I would also say it was illegal to drive it on the street. But so is street racing!
Again thanks for the tip/

Hey, Bruce Springsteen ran fuelie heads on a 396 in his song, so you can make any amount of horsepower you want with vortec heads in a story. It isn't the head so much as the cool name of the head. Fuelie heads were smallblock heads in case you didn't know.
