supercoupe and rs/z28
a kid that i work with is obsessed with tbird sc's, he had one, and got rearended and they totalled it, so now he's buying another one, thinks they are super fast
i know its probably faster than the rs, but this kid can't launch (i raced him in the civic, he spun forever)
so what are my chances. i can also race in the z28 if the ods are better, but id rather race in the rs
(it has current tags)

Send Chris a PM (taturbo). He is a T-bird nut. Those cars are heavier than a thirdgen, but think about what it has going for it. A supercharged 3.8 L V6. Possibly a 5 speed tranny. Rear wheel drive, and independent rear end at that. I think it's a sweet setup, just a fugly car to put it in. My money is NOT on the RS in this one.
some of those supercoupe coupes are good for 15s i believe.. not sure but i know they are at least simi-fast...
try and race him in the rs and see what happens they woop out the z if things dont go ur way

Yeah, then get the Z28. Just don't say, "Well, let me go home and get my Z28."
I don't know. It just sounds bad. Clown car drives do that crap. They always got something better at home. Maybe it is their home. Mobile home with chrome rims, tinted windows, fart pipe, stickers...

My money's on the SuperCoupe
I've had my 89 SuperCoupe since 1994. I've run against lots of ThirdGens. I run evenly against 305 TPI/Autos. I have beat some by a bit, and been beaten by just a bit, but it's always been real close with the 305 TPI/Auto. The 350 TPI will kill me. As far as the TBI 305's, you don't have a chance.
The T-birds are heavier, but they have lots of torque, A 2 tire fire is only a floorboard away
My car is an automatic, so a 5 speed SuperCoupe with a decent driver could do even better.
I also have a 1994 SuperCoupe with the auto, I'ce only put about 300 miles on it since I bought it in Oct 1999, but from that small amount of driving, it feels a tick faster than my '89.
As an owner of ThirdGens & T-Bird TC & SC's, all I can say is that they are all damn nice cars, hard to pick a favorite, they all have their good points. At least Ford didn't sell out to Front Wheel Drive like GM did with their comparable cars. The T-birds should hold me over till the GTO is affordable, slightly used!, then I'll be back to GM!

i figured that the rs would get smoked (damn tbi), so i might race him with the z.
however, i don't think that this kid is a good driver, b/c his last supercoupe was bought from someone i know, and it was modded with: exhaust, k&n cone, s/c pulley, and pro 5.0 shifter, and i was told by the prev. owner (pretty reputable guy) that he beat l98's and even beat an lt1 with it.
anyways, i raced him in my civic, and we both spun off the line, him spinning more, he only beat me by 2-3 car lengths by 80, and im assuming it should have been more.
so by that rational, i would assume that the rs might have a chance, plus i need to get my launches down better.
if he does win, i know he will push for a race with the z, so he can say "i beat a z28"

Good Luck! And let us know what happened.
Most times it doesn't matter how fast the car is if the Driver $ucks!
