355TPI vs. 92 supercoupe or 95 trans am
I got a 355 TPI automatic pretty much all stock except a filter and no muffler. I bought it a couple weeks ago and the guy said it was pushin right around 300 horse. I was wondering how I'd do against an 92 supercoupe 5 spd? The kid can't drive it very well but he's pretty cocky with it. Also how would I do against a 95 trans am with a 350 auto? Just curious for some future races.

how do you have a pretty much stock 355 TPI?
we need more details on your setup. Is the supercoupe modded?

I have an '85 T/A with a stock 305, and an auto with a mild shift kit (from the trans rebuild). I had to deal with a T-Bird SC, about a 93 on Saturday. Rolling start at about 50, and I had a length on him by 90. But that 'Bird didn't sound quite so healthy. Anyway, against a stock SC, you shouldn't have any problems. If it is modded to the point that my first SC was, it would be a very interesting race, but I would have taken you. Here is link to show you what they can do...

Here's some food for thought...
A friend of mine had a 90 SC 5 speed. His only mods were a custom cat back and smaller blower pulley...good for another 2 psi of boost, I think. That's all he did. On the highway from about a 60 mph punch, I've seen him walk away from a stock LT1 Camaro, older L98 Vette, and a 96-97 Mustang GT. Granted those cars were probably stock, but a SC has a lot of potential IMO. They are heavy cars, which is why my friend didn't do as well in stoplight races but that thing hauled *** on the highway.
If your friend's SC is stock, race him from a stop...you should be able to beat him.
If he's all cocky like you say and wants to race from a roll, he might have something up his sleeve. I wouldn't race him from a roll. Just my opinion based on what I've seen.

Like i stated before, i've only had the car a few weeks and the previous owner told me it had about 300. As far as i knew it's mostly stock......i'll do my best to find out the mods.
the problem is that everything that would be not stock would be deep down in your engine, like pistons, crank. My friends just rebuilt his 350 in his 76 Camaro and he bored it out with bigger and better pistons and cam, intake yada yada. No one just bores out an engine and says, "ok i'm done." While you're in there you might as well just do everything.
