ight guys, this kid at the school across town has a black 96 LT1 6spd all stock but flowmasters. I'm wonderin if i could get, headers, cam and a 3.73 posi out back what the outcome would be, my guess would be on him, but i think it may be close. if that wouldn't be enough what else could be done minus the free mods to take this kid, and would a bigger throttle body be of any help or should i just get an air foil instead and save the 300+ bucks and put it to something in the future like a set of heads? thanks guys your always a great help.

 

Asumming this is the l98, forget the tb right now, its not going to give u much of anything. All the free mods will give you about 10-15hp. Take that 300 bucks and get yourself a good cat back *coughcoughhookercoughcough* , and then get some headers. With these mods you should be right close to him. And oh yeah i hope you get that posi, if not you'll be roasting some tires and seeing some tail lights.

 

well when and if i pick the headers up off of this guy i will replace all the pipe from those back with 3 inch pipe like my current tips are, which will probably mean a new muffler. so you think with headers and 3 inch pipe through a flowmaster, i love the sound sry for you hooker guys, i will be with him or will i need the gear too, i already have a posi. not sure what ratio but it's a posi

 

what gears do you have now? And have you ever heard hooker? my friend has flowmasters on his 340 duster and he told me my car was loud at WOT he said it ws LOUD! But hey if thats what u like go for it man. I like flowmaster ok, but i wanted somethig different. either way have fun with the new ride man

 

not positive of gears as of this moment. i already have a flowmaster and am very happy with it, that's why i will go back

 

I've raced a few auto STOCK lt1s with my mods (in sig). And I win 4/5 times. Haven't had a chance to race a stick, unless you count the guy who claimed he missed 2nd :lala: I don't count it.

So with headers, full exhaust, and 3.73s I'd say you'd be right there with that lt1. Add a decent cam and you should have him, assuming you can launch.

Either way, race him now, find out where you are, then get your mods and race him.

 

i really dont know if he would be game for a race. he's been in a little trouble with the po and i'm worried that would keep him from wanting to. anyway thanks guys
