Wow Talk about Blowing Away the Comp

Theres some kid around my area who has a foxbody Stang...im pretty sure he has a 351 carbeurated in it...well he was bragging to my friend who owns a 85 TA LG4 carbeurated about how he does all the work hisself to his car and recently put a RPM performer manifold on it....well my friend decides even though its a lil wet out to take it on the street and see how the stang does against him....along a dark lil street where no one goes they line up....the engines rev and i flag bamn theyre both off and both get a decent start im saying about 40-50 mph they were both dead even then i hear something like a gunshot (thought it was a backfire) then i see something fly from the Stang (thought it was his hood popping back) well the TA took off and the stang went dead with smoke billowing from the hood....closer inspection reveals that his intake has blown off and shot through the hood....i wish it was daylight out i wouldve loved to see the whole thing...all i saw was a faint object speeding out from the front i really wished i had my camcorder on me i wouldve uploaded that into these boards....but holy **** i was scared as hell...I GUESS IT WAS OBVIOUS HE WASNT ING ABOUT DOING THE WORK HISSELF...SCARY BUT FUNNY AS HELL AT LEAST NO ONE WAS HURT

Boy people are dumba$$es!!! First off doing all the work yourself is no big deal, I have done all of my work, with some help, but I have NEVER paid a shop to anything, even the gear swap! It just has to be done properly.

Second off anyone who races in the rain is a moran. Even if they have AWD the rain is still dangerous. Especially in a Mustang with alot of weight not in the rear!

I don't think he deserves ruining his engine, but he was stupid for racing in the rain, and should next time pay someone to do the work if he is not capable!

Yeah, I've owned both before, and both scare me to drive in the rain. Let alone racing in the rain.

How does an intake fly off? Is there that much pressure?

How the hell do you blow your manifold off? Nitrous backfire?

I don't see what's to brag about doing your own work either. The only one who touches my car is me, but you don't see me bragging about it as if it was important or something
