not really a kill, but...

my first run in my new ride. Going down the freeway tonight, an LS1 SS with exhaust and 6-speed pulls up even with me and throws a few revs. I'm not too enthused about racing, specially cuz my car's way out of tune and a 400 isn't the best highway motor; but "what the hell" I say. We go from about a 60 punch to about 110, and he barely pulled 2 and 1/2 cars on me by then. If I were him, I'd be a little ashamed....my car's running like poop, my tach isn't hooked up, and I'm running pig rich. But it got my blood going, 'specially after 3 months without a race ( just bought this car 3 days ago) :lala:

You still have more displacement.

Well, from what I can tell ( I just bought it 2 days ago), it's a basic passenger-car 400. It's got a really crappy Carter 600 on top of a Weiand Stealth, breathing through stock heads and a tiny cam. It has nice torque at about 2500, but runs out of breath by 4700-ish. Also has a bad 2.73 pegleg but that can be cured. With these gears, I can still blow the tires (tire?) off pretty easily, and it's way out of tune, and acts like it's got a vacuum leak somewhere that we haven't determined yet.

Goodies: Mallory Hy-Fire Box, Blaster 2 coil, Weiand Stealth intake, Carter 600 carb, Heddman shortys, no cats, and a single-out 3" flowmaster.

Yeah, I've never had such a torquey car before, it's addictive to keep it in 2nd and just punch it
