5speed Integra races my "6cyl" Firebird

there was this guy at my brothers school who had just sold his 80' Z28 and bought an Integra as a replacement not only that, but he was running his mouth about how unreliable American cars are, and how his Acura is soooo fast. well, i told my brother to ask him if he wanted to race my 6cyl Firebird with a catback exhaust and a cold air intake. this kid was like "its only a 6? i dont want to waste my time". then my brother proceeded to tell him how he took a MAJOR step backwards by purchasing the Integra, and how hell regret it when he races my new car. so that apparently pumped him up, and he said "tell your brother he gets beat tonight".

so we met up with this kid in a parking lot. he was a little shocked to find the exhaust note of my car was pretty loud and deep. i simply told him it was a Flowmaster catback, and the pevious owner swapped one of their race mufflers for the original. he believed me and we went out on the street to catch a light. after a few minutes of driving, the light up ahead turns red. we stop, and he starts reving his engine, i just look over and ask him if hes ready. he says "to kick your ***? yeah!" then the light changed to green.

he takes off, spinning the tires. i just give it about half throttle to stay a few car lengths back, letting him think hes got this race won. when he shifted into 2nd, i punched it. the "Firebirds" tires spun horribly and i passed him smoking them. within seconds i had hit 80mph, and he was just a speck in my rearview. i pulled into another parking lot and he followed. we parked our cars and he got out saying "man, can you smell my clutch? i knew i needed a new one, but i didnt think it was this bad (everyones got an excuse when they lose). then, words came out of his mouth that ill probably never forget : "you sure this is a 6? man... my cars slow!" after he looked my car over a bit more, he left and me and my girlfriend burst into laughter.

to this day he still doesnt know he got hustled by a LT1 Formula!

Even if it was a new V6 he probably would have lost. But the fact that he "thought" his car was fast is even funnier.

sounds similar to an experience I had:

I'm sitting down at our local hang out with my friends one night, just sitting around, shooting the breeze, when a Fox body 5.0 pulls up, apparently one of the guys knew him, but no one knew what was done to the car. So he and his friend are sitting in the car, its still running, and we're all kinda circled around seeing what the deal is. He starts spouting off how he runs 13.2's and all this stuff. Kinda funny, since, first, it was stock exhaust with no cam. Second, regular street radials, third, he said no nitrous. So we're all telling him he's full of **** and trying to get him to pop his hood. After about 30 minutes he finally pulls up with the rest of us and parks his car and pops the hood. All we see is an MSD coil, headers of some kind, and pullies. Thats about it. He still insists he runs 13.2's. My friend had a stock '95 Z28 that we kept trying to get him to run. He never would go for it. Finally someone asks if he wants to run the RS "over there" pointing to my car, "Its only a 305." yeah right, at the time I already had the LT1, but I only had the headers and MSD with a stock clutch and 3.08 gears. After about another 15 minutes of talking to him he finally agrees to race me.
We head out to our spot, turn around and line up. He honks and starts rolling as soon as he hits the 3rd honk. He jumps maybe half a length out ahead. No problem, by second gear I had reeled him back in and put 2 lengths on this fool. As soon as I hit 3rd, my damn clutch starts slipping and my pull pretty much stops, I throw it in 4th, same damn thing. No problem, I still hold my 2 length lead! We pull back into our spots and the guy wont even say a word to me. Its not till I leave 20 minutes later that his friend even asks a single question. It was great.

I like the folks who put a big block into a V6 car and leave the emblems on. That's evil! The folks who can't tell the difference are even worse.

I one raped a Honda owner like that. I was dating a girl who had a brother who was into imports and all that. Well, she told him i had a Mustang LX and he assumed it was a V6 and told her that he could walk my *** all over the place.

So after a few weeks, i was driving along and happened to pull next to him in his POS CRX all gutted out with race wing and 18" rims and body kit. He was farting along down the road. Anyway, we get to the next light and he calls me a poser for putting 5.0 emblems on a "Base model Mustang!!"

Now i would not call my car a sleeper at all. It's got 17" rims, shiny black paint and a loud exhaust...but i guess in the import world...all slow cars have that.

So he continues to rib me on about my car and starts pumping out stats on my engine. He basically quotes the HP of a 94-95 V6 Mustang! He starts saying I only have 140HP and he has 105 but weighs 1800 pounds and blah blah blah.

To make a long story short. After giving him a 2 second headstart I got on it and passed him like he was standing still. Then, to rub it in, I stood on the brakes while he was still going. When he passed me I darted over from the left lane over to the far right line and floored it again to pass him up the right side. He started to turn on his hazzard lighs but shut em off as soon as he saw me coming around the opposite side. He denied ever hitting them, but they came on for 1 blink. After the second time i ripped by..i kept going til he was a spec in the rear view

I dumped her *** 1 week later too. Now his "crew" are always trying to beat me. Never gonna happen.

Well the closest thing I've ever done to that was when I had the 403 in the 83 Cadillac Coupe.
Everyone knows how slow an 83 Coupe Deville is...including the late 70s stock Trans Am or Firebird approaching me fast in the rear view mirror.
I said to myself (I was a little overconfident at that time), "I'm gonna let this guy hang himself."
So I continue doing the speed limit. It's on 4 lane highway. I'm on the inside lane, or left lane. He comes flying along and moves to the outside. I start giving the wore out Oldsmobile some gas. I could here his v8 revving up. (It sounded kind of truck like.) I put it 3/4s down. By now, we were approaching 75 OR 80. I heard his/her car rev LOUD. Over rev would be the best term. Apparently this was a manual shift. Inside my head, I could hear a voice, "Floor it, Burn him, Floor it, Burn him."
The Firebird eased up until it got its rear just ahead of me, quickliy whipped over, and hit the breaks and his blinker.
To this day, I regret not flooring it smoking that old Firebird. And I still can't figure out what engine it was. I do need to go back by the guy's house just to see what year it was. Back then, I knew little about years of Firebirds. I know a little more now.

Evil....

Kinda sounds like my sister in-law. She's got an Intrepid.....she thinks that if her car can beat Mustangs, Camaros and the like. She kept asking if she could drive the T/A, and she kept getting told no, so her response was that it was ugly and slow . So one day, I cought her at a traffic light, and when it went green, I kept waiting for her to get on it (I was at maybe 1/4 throttle). When my car shifted into second, I gave up on her trying to race me and just stomped on it. I came to find out later that she was going full out trying to race, and she thought that she beat me out of the hole. Then when my wife said that I wasn't trying, she was in disbelief She still hasn't gotten to drive the T/A, and she probably never will with the way she treats her car.

Is it one of those new ugly intrepids? The one I usualy drive will give alot of cars a run for the money its a 94-95 prototype car it has the 3.5L v6 thats makine 253 hp they use it in the prowler now, very few intrepids had them. If the car was lighter it would be a real killer right now I think it tips the scales about about 4000 something.

No, it's not the rolling egg......it the same as the one that you're talking about, but it's only got the 3.3L in it. And it's not in very good tune. She's had it over a year and a half, and it's only ever gotten one oil change, and she drives all over the place daily.

Awesome kill

I hate Hustlers, unless I am one of them. That was more than a hustle - that was a con. At least the Integra owner is even more embarrassed thinking he got beat by a 6 instead of a 8, and LT1 for that matter.

The only fast stock Integras I know of are only available in Japan and are not too similar to the Integras in the states. Imports seem to get the shaft when the come to the U.S. Japan seems to love to hoard thier truelly fast cars.

Well, the old Cadillac with the 403 in it probably wouldn't have run anything better than 16s. But just think, you're in a late 70s Firebird and the 83 Cadillac is causing you alot of trouble. They came with 110 hp diesels and 135 hp 4100s...

I should have hustled some of those doofus rednecks and their old trucks...

I would, but she won't ever bring the car to my house for me to do it. I've even offered to go and get her car and do it, but she wants to have the keys to the T/A while I'm doin' it, and there ain't no way in he!! I'll ever voluntarily let her drive it.

I love the hustle, I always tell people that my B4C is stock except for a chip (and it is so I'm not even lying). But you should see the look on their faces when they lose by about 10 car lenghts. Then afterwards they call me a lier and I get out the documentation on the B4C package and that ussually shuts them up and then they pay the cash .
Also when I first got the ElCamino I was bringing it home and some guy in a '00 T/A pulls up next to me and asked me what I had I said a bad exhaust leak (I did, but that turbo made wierd noise). He told me he didn't have much traction so he wanted to go from a 35mph roll for about a block. Well I killed him by about 5 car lengths in a block, I love turbo's.

Later, Garrett
