My friend just bought a 5.0 1993 (manual) mustang with headers, a flowmaster exhaust...and a high perform chip....n e way hez been talkin allot trash and says he'll walk my 5.7L iroc-z (1987) (auto), which is mostly stock...

will he walk me??

 

If he's a good driver, he could get a car length or two on you.

Race from a dead stop and you should probably hook up a lot better than what those Mustangs did and he will have to play catch up.

 

If he has gears he should get you, but if he is running stock 2.73s or 3.08s I put my money on you. His mods may help him get the win!

 

Depends on how your 87 runs too. Seen some abysmal times for some, and some solid times too, so...

Do some free mods, port your plenum (knock down the EGR walls) and shim your fuel pressure regulator with a quarter (ups FP about 5 psi). And make sure you're in as good a tune as possible.... And practice your launch before hand to get it down solid.

I would think he'll win, but you never know, he may not be able to drive for squat or you may have one of the faster 87 L98s...

With his mods I think he will win. If it was stock for stock I would've said you.

 

Yeah - at least cut your air boxes... He's going to win I think. But the term "walk" is liberal. It should be a tight, fun race. I dont think he'll "walk" you by any means.

Race him while the car is still new to him and you have the win

of he knows how to drive, it will be a driver's race with the stang having a slight edge with the 5-spd
