Should I play with a Z4?

On my daily commute to work this morning
I got behind a BMW Z4. I have seen this
car before on my way to work. The guy that
owns it, is in management for a company next door to the one I work at. He's the type that says" Look at me I drive some thing expensive". He had a Z06 vette before the Z4. I think he traded it off for the beamer (stupid).

If I catch him at a stoplight would I have a
chance? I have a 1991 RS
with stock suspension(not for long). Small block 350 with Dart II heads (2.05/1.64) 1.5 roller rockers, energizer cam with 460 Lift. Carb is a 750 holley. Tranny is a Turbo 350 with a 2100 stall converter. And deleted AC.

I researched the Z4.
It has 225 hp and 215 pounds of torque.
Weighs alittle over 3000 pounds (3042).
Does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds.
Comes with either a six speed or five speed.

I think as long as you have some decent gears and traction you could take him from a light. I wonder how it would be at 100mph+ though.... I was running on the highway with a new BMW 325ci 2 door.. and he was quick not as fast me under hard accelleration but after 120 he seemed like he had more gear and rpm's then i did. And i'd imagine that the Z4 is a bit faster then the BMW i ran with.

My rearend gear is mild 3.23.
And at top end he'd beat me.
A three speed auto is no match for a
six speed manual at upper end. I'd run out of
rpm's. The Z4 has a top speed of 154 mph.
But from stop light to stop light could I humble him? Using my torque to pull him out
of the hole.

i wonder with your gearing that maybe you would have a nice little top end yourself?

a friend of mine works at BMW, and he said that the Z4s are slower than the Z3s because they both share the same engine, with the Z4 being the HEAVIER of the 2. I've never raced a Z3 before, but I don't think they're fast cars. As for your top end.... I really don't think you're in too much trouble with 3.27 gears. I've gone up to 240km/h (as read on my Canadian speedo), but I've got a 5spd. But realistically speaking, I doubt you'll be seeing 150mph.

I say race him!

i work for BMW, first off figure out what engine he has by looking at the badge on the side, if its 2.5 then you got him no problem, if its a 3.0 then hes running a 5.4-second 0-60 and a 14.2 sec 1/4 mile at 98 mph. those cars off the line are sluggish but once the engine gets revved up they really come alive, all BMW's are like that, plus the gearing for BMW's makes they're 90-150 incredible. The Z4 3.0 is comparible to the Porshce Boxster if that helps, it accually beats it by a little bit. The Z3's were quicker only if it was a 3.0 liter or an M-series. The M roadsters run low 13's stock. those cars are fun to take out on the streets. anyway good luck

2.5=5-speed or auto
3.0=6-speed or auto

oh yeah, Z06 for a Z4, WTF?????
