About to run an LS1 from a roll...

One of the guys in the local F-body club just added a 125 shot on top of his already modified LS1. On motor, he ran 12.6x @ 112. He's been wanting to run someone from a roll, so I volunteered to be the guinea pig. Any ideas what kind of trap speeds he'll be seeing? I don't have any new times with my combo, but we're expecting it to trap right around 118 mph. I think I may end up getting walked, but it'll be exciting to run a street car that can keep up for a change.

On a stock motor he'd probably trap 116-120, but seeing that he's at 112 now, I'd guess he'd be in the low 120s. It all depends though.. chances are he's trapping at least 120 IMO. good luck, let us know how it goes

No wonder why he wants to run from a roll, that's a terrible ET for that trap speed, either he can't get traction from a dead stop or he just can't drive...I'd say a trap speed of 118-121

Does anyone know about any LS1's with similar setups? I was guessing he'd be trapping in the mid 120's, but I have no idea how his setup is running on the 125 shot. I don't think I'll win, but I think I'll hold my own pretty well considering I'm putting a little n/a 306 up against a 346 on the bottle.

Even though I do more than my fair share of LS1 bashing on the boards I think he is gonna beat you. However in all honesty, I would love to see you stomp his ***

You think that's bad try a 12.55 at 117! Yeah, I know street tires suck, but give me a break, it's only been 7 passes with the 6 speed. I'd say low 120's are in order if he's trapping 112 now. Depends on how fast of a roll ya go from and how much traction ya both get. I know mine as soon as the juice hits even in 2nd it'll still rip the tires, and I'm still running the 3.27 rear, so 2nd at 3K is about 40 or so.

Nic, how much does your car weigh? What heads, cam and intake will you use on the new motor?

2900 lbs with me...tfs TW heads, track heat intake, FTI custom cam - I'm not at liberty to reveal the specs, but let's say it's quite a bit bigger than what I was using with the old combo. My cam guy has a customer with a very similar setup to mine that's putting a little over 400 hp to the rear wheels. Mine won't be putting quite as much down because of the automatic transmission, but he says I won't have any problems at all getting it to run mid to low 11's.

We hang out with the RPM boys a lot and I got to talking with one of the guys last night. Turns out, I got two of their names on the board mixed up. The one I agreed to run has an LT1 on a 150 shot. He ran a 12.90 on a 75 shot. The other guy has a n/a bolt-on LS1.

The guy your refering to is ExtremeZ28..Hes on the boards such as ls1.com and ls1tech.com..and ofcourse RPMs own website..He has a good running bolt on ls1..He usually runs 12.6-12.7 coming outta the hole easy due to traction..and traps in the 112-113 range..I havent heard anything about him spraying his car but with his current mph and a 125 hit..i wouldnt be surprised if he trapped around 120-122 on the gas..Now im not taking anything away from your car..But from a roll im think you might go down. That Mph is just to much much for a non stroked or power added 302 to handle..But i wish you luck sir....

Jay (extremez28) is the one I was originally thinking it was, but Johnny said that it was James who just put the nitrous kit on. I wish their old board was still up so I could figure out who the hell I was talking to. Either way...it's all in good fun
