should be a good race....

I'm gonna race my buddy's ex-gf in her stupid '03 Mustang GT that mommy and daddy bought her. Im thinkin it's goona be a close race, who do you think will have the advantage though.

'89 Iroc, l98,Free mods, airfoil, K&N's, T.P.I.S. AFPR, Edelbrock TES's, Hooker Cat-Back, Magnaflow Cat, All ignition upgraded(plugs wires coil etc.), fresh tires

Her's is an all stock '03 gt with an automatic...no clue about options it's got leather and power everything...thats all i know

Is it gonna be as close as i think, or will i feel stupid, or (hopefully) will i be able to make her realize that she isn't the little queen she thinks she is?

Thanks

Josh

Hmm, sounds like a good race. I think that the new GT's should be in low 14's on average. With your mods I would say you would easily be in low 14's probally hitting 13's. I think that your major problem would be getting traction. Good luck and put the women in her rightful place, the kitchen.

The GT's aren't that hard to beat. I beat one with exhaust in my near stock LB9 by a healthy margin.

We raced twice. One time straight and one time on a good turn. On the turn I owned him bigtime. On the straightaway it wasn't that bad. But I still won by a healthy margin.

*** i'd love to be in the 13's haven't been to a track but compared to my el camino that ran consistent 13.9-14.0's this feels about the same to me so i guess that low 14's are very do-able. I talked to a buddy at school he said he saw a bone stock gt hit a 14.9 at the local track. This was a real confidence booster guys...btw i ask because tonight is prom and we all gotta drive after the dance so i hope for a nice chance to get side by side...and where would my advantage be...stop light or rolling at like 25-30? it's got the 2.77's or whatever the crap highway gears were for that car, and the posi is gone. so i wanna role, but i know the TPI chokes higher up....thanks for any comments/suggestions and wish me luck

I think you should have her. I took a 01 gt. UR modded more than I am. She most likely doesnt know how to come off the line anyway. If you keep traction off the line I give it to you.
I can already feel the female readers getting pissed.

hey hey. When i raced last summer, a guy with a 2001 GT and a 5 speed raced beside me. Granted my TBI lost big-time but he ran a mid-14 if my memory is correct.

Wow, no aggression here or anything...j/k. My '88 Iroc 350 w/2.77's all free mods, AFPR, and some timing only went a best of 15.03. I'd hope that her highness can't drive that Stang. Does it have a stick, or is it auto? In either case if she can't handle the car you can probably win this. But, if she can drive at all I'd say she's got you. '03 GT's aren't powerhouses or anything, but, they have enough to beat a 15.0x car...good luck and let us know man.

Rained on prom night hopefully ill get a chance to run her soon. Word has it she heard i want to race and she wont run me at all. And to top it all her new boyfriend has her convinced that she would tear me apart, but he is the one who disabled his car for 7 months (and counting) trying to do an engine re-build.

So she won't run u.. yet she thinks she can "tear you apart" (thanks to her boyfriend's BS)? What a joke..

This reminds me of a similar situation..

A guy I know has an '87 IROC, 5-spd.. with an engine swap and bunch of mods under the hood, he's probably hittin about 330+ HP..

Anyway, this girl we know just got a brand new '02 Trans Am (LS1), 6-spd... and she's talkin' like she'd own him big time if they raced..

They even went so far as to bet $100 on the race (with her BF driving.. of course.. )... but now she's saying she "doesn't wanna waste time" on racing his car, yet she still acts like she'll smoke him hard..

Granted, I think it'd be an awesome race.. but it really pisses me off when people talk hella $*** about how fast their car is, and then refuse to run it.. makes me refer to the saying...

"You can't just say you're faster... you need to prove it..."

I've dealt with that before...many times. Tell her that she must be conceding....but on the other hand, don't try to force anyone to race.

lol, no she's not hot...well if there was any doubt that i would lose i think it's gone now because saturday i ran a 14.015 @ 98.22 and it seems those gt's are only good for 14.9-15.0 if im correct. it feels so good knowing if she ever tries anything how funn it's gonna be when i smoke her *** (i know 14 aint quick don't think im trying to say im the sh*t... only compared to her )

The 14.9-15.0 out of a '03 GT is really bad. Must have gotten it from Car and Driver. The same magical people that managed to get a 14.3 out of an LS1. Expect a '03 GT auto to more as be in the mid 14's on average. The 5spd would probally be low 14's. I think that some are even capable of high 13's, never seen it myself, kind of like the 12 sec LS1's(but I saw one run 12's bone stock, one of the greatest experiences of my life). If you can run a 14.015, you should be able to lay the smack down on her without much trouble. You wont beat her by bus lenghts, but I would say you have at least half a car.

yea.. u may be close.. u really need to get some 3.42/3.73s..

but my fiancee has an 96 v6 firebird *nice car, totaly stock*, well when even my car club goes to car shows or BBq's, we will caravan there... she has actually 1 a race by intimidation.. just fot the fact that she was with a bunch of other f-bodys with major mods *see sig lol* so the other car ('00-01 GT) didnt race lol...

but as car as your deal.. just go from a dead dig.. and dotn slam the gas/spin the tires.. cuase she prob will..

Hey camarocruzin: check out www.9bolt.com they are coming out with a spacer to upgrade your 2.77's to a lower ration w/o changing carriers. My friend bought my '88 from me, and it has 2.77's and we got to looking and they are supposed to come out with it beginning of summer. So hopefully that will be soon, but, who knows for sure. Just thought I'd let you know. And don't dis those 9 bolts too badly, there is a guy around here that run's high 10's with his. All he has done is install 3.73's. They aren't the best rearends, but, they will last a while.

BTW, you'll own her a$$!

alright thanks i'll keep up with them, they seem alone in even recognizing us 9-bolt owners...my dad had never even heard of one, when i told him he said i missed one and i t was a 10 bolt and to get back down there and count again, his face was priceless when he came up from underneath, all he could say is his 12 bolt is still stronger lol.

O yea about the mustang, im a cocky little ***** now when i see her, just becuase i know i'll leave her crying if she ever try to step up
