Today when I was coming back from school this kid in an eclipse pulls up beside at a light that people always race at because it narrows down to one lane on the other side so there's no room for a flyby "victory." We look at each other and he has this huge smile on his face as we start to rev it up. He starts kreeping forward so I bring it up to 2000RPM. When the light changes I floor it and my tire spins like crazy. He has me off the line but as soon as I get traction he falls back and loses the smile. Not to bad for a first race eh?

 

hey nice win. what kind of eclipse was it? 4 or 6 banger? i know the 03, with the v6, is puttin out 200hp stock.

 

It was a 4 banger, early '90's style. Any sugestions on how to launch so he can't say he had me off the line?

 

Take it down a notch on the rpms, say around 1500instead. If that doesn't help, just go a bit easier on the gas pedal initially.

 

nice win, maybe launch in drive and dont wot untill it gets to maybe second gear.

 

hold the brake firmly, then stomp the gas pedal.
then pull up next to him....with sticky tires

...or do what they said. that'll probably work a lil better. hehe
